Moalboal is a popular coastal town in southern Cebu, about 90โ100 km southwest of Cebu City. It is one of Cebu’s best destinations for snorkeling, diving, beaches, and marine wildlife.
๐ The famous Sardine Run
Moalboal’s biggest attraction is its spectacular sardine run. Millions of sardines gather close to shore near Panagsama Beach, creating huge underwater schools that move together in fascinating formations.
The great thing is that you can often see the sardines while snorkeling, without needing to take a boat far offshore.
๐๏ธ Panagsama Beach
Panagsama is the main tourism area of Moalboal. Rather than being famous for a long stretch of white sand, it is primarily known for its excellent snorkeling and diving directly offshore.
You can find restaurants, cafรฉs, dive shops, accommodations and tour operators around the area.
๐๏ธ White Beach
White Beach, also called Basdaku Beach, provides the more traditional Cebu beach experience, with white sand, clear water and space for swimming and relaxing.
It is a good place to spend the afternoon after exploring Moalboal’s underwater attractions.
๐คฟ Pescador Island

Pescador Island is another major attraction. It is a popular snorkeling and diving destination with coral formations and abundant marine life.
A typical Moalboal island-hopping trip may combine Pescador Island + sardine snorkeling + sea turtle watching.
๐ข Sea turtles
Moalboal is also well known for green sea turtles. Snorkelers may encounter turtles feeding around seagrass and shallow coastal areas. Keep a respectful distance and avoid touching or chasing them.
